My goal is to help you or you and your partner find the kind of life you want and help you to understand what has been standing in your way. More than twenty plus years of training and teaching in psychoanalytic technique and clinical training has shaped my work and influenced my ability to help you move forward faster.
With a combined depth of experience that spans 35 years I help individuals and couples lead more fulfilling lives. My private practice as a psychotherapist, couples therapist, personal and supervising psychoanalyst and LCSW in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 20 years emerged from 15 years as a counselor at various East Coast and Bay Area non-profits.
I work with professionals at various stages of their career(s) to catapult them to partnerships, executive level positions, and philanthropy. In addition to my clinical practice I have instructed and supervised students and psychoanalysts at Bay Area colleges, Universities and Institutes and was previously voted “one of San Francisco’s Best Psychologists.”
I currently serve on the Advisory Board to Access Institute for Psychological Services where I am also the Past President of the Board of Directors, and the former Board Development Chair. Access Institute is one of the premier Bay Area Post Doctoral training programs that delivers affordable psychological services for those without adequate insurance or the means to afford high-quality, longer-term treatment. I also serve as an Advisory Board Member for We Save Lives.Org dedicated to preventing the 3D’s (driving drunk, drugged or distracted).
As an active member of numerous professional organizations and associations, I have dedicated countless volunteer hours providing pro bono psychotherapy and consultation for various Bay Area non-profits.
My publications, writing, experience and podcasts cover such topics (to name a few) as overcoming fear, roadblocks to success, relationships, living responsibly and with integrity, sex abuse, body image, eating disorders, aging, dementia, illness, private social work, and people who use porn, strippers and/or cheating as a defense against intimacy.
With a Communications degree and as the former host of a radio program, I have combined two interests by creating two documentary films and a Podcast. One of these films is about a psychoanalytic icon, Dr. Hedda Bolgar. Dr. Bolgar left Vienna the very day that Hitler arrived in March of 1938. My ITunes Challenge Your Thinking Podcast was created to inspire others to overcome fear and move forward in their lives and in their relationships.
I graduated with honors from the University of California at Berkeley with a Masters in Social Work, completed my post-master’s psychodynamic training at the Psychotherapy Institute in Berkeley, and received my Doctorate in Psychoanalysis from the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California.
Additionally, I have pursued couples therapy training and consultation with many psychoanalytic icons and couples therapy theorists and researchers. If you have been searching or Googling “San Francisco Psychotherapist,” “Couples Therapy,” “Psychotherapy” or “Best San Francisco Psychotherapist” in San Francisco you have landed in the right place. I look forward to hearing from you.
